Transportation Solutions

Local Support In Our CommunityDavid Cameron Safety and Mobility Review. Adept provided the PAC with a detailed report addressing safety concerns at a newly constructed intersection adjacent a public elementary school.

Communities are special to us. There are special differences in each area, even within a municipality, that need extra considerations related to shortcutting traffic, pedestrian issues, commercial development, heritage concerns, and traffic.

Adept Transportation Solutions is willing to get involved when we see a special need in the community, and the environment of drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and businesses could benefit from our expertise and advice. Our most recent project involved the Millstream Connector Project. The extension of Millstream Road (Veteran Memorial Parkway) through the boundary of Colwood and Langford to Sooke Road (Highway 14) and beyond to Latoria Road was planned to travel next to David Cameron Elementary School. We provided the Parent's Advisory Council (PAC) with a report detailing the effects the new intersection would have on the surrounding community with an eye towards what is going to happen in the future, beyond the opening year.

Many thanks go out to Sherry Taylor, the PAC Representative at the time, and all the support personnel and local residents that made our report possible. We spent approximately 230 hours on this project in addition to our full time employment and family duties. The meetings, letters and community involvement initiatives were great moral boosters and opportunities to meet with concerned residents. The project was also very satisfying from our staff's perspective; we all grew up in that area of Victoria and wished to see the final design implement smart choices for the future.

Final designs of the intersection adjacent to the school took into account some of our recommendations to provide the safest conditions to the crossing pedestrians. Way to go!

Questions? Comments? Concerns?

Training and Educational Instruction...

We are also in the process of developing educational course modules geared toward Civil Engineering or Urban Geography students that may be interested in hands-on curriculum related to computer microsimulation modeling and traffic analysis.
Adept has educational licensing for it's microsimulation software and can either train existing transportation professionals in the use and interpretation of microsimulation reports and files or educate future transportation professionals in an educational environment. If you feel that this would be of some benefit to either your staff of professionals or your local educational institution, please contact us. We endeavour to reply to all enquiries within 24 hours.
