Victoria Multipurpose Arena Microsimulation ContractAdept Transportation Solutions, as part of the consulting team, has been awarded the contract to provide services for Phase 2: Traffic and Pedestrian Impact Study, including microsimulation of the transportation network surrounding the new Save-On-Foods Centre/Victoria Multipurpose Arena.
The results of the analysis show the changes can be made to the signal timing, pedestrian crossing timing, signal coordination, and similar changeable performance measures. Analysis was conducted during the peak operational times of the arena, predominantly the evenings during the weekday and Saturday afternoons.
Vehicle emissions will also be recorded and analysed for impact purposes. Recommendations on signal timing, coordination, and pedestrian crossing times in additiona to turn restrictions were given to the city staff. The results indicate that after these recommendations are taken into account, the existing infrastructure can handle the traffic expected for significant events at the arena for quite some time.
